Happy 40th, People-On-Moon!

Today (July 20th, 2009) marks the 40th anniversary of the first humans to land on the surface of the moon!

The more you learn about what our country and those brave men accomplished, the more amazed you are.

Did you know that there were fewer than 20 seconds worth of fuel left when the lander touched down? FYI: you don't survive a mistake on the moon!

I remember watching the landings (I don't think I'm remembering the first one since I was only a year and a half old at the time) with my dad. He made a big fuss that THIS IS HISTORY BEING MADE! You know what? I remember to this day what I saw and learned a love of science, technology and history. Thanks, Dad!

I finally got a new comic up!

I'm afraid I can't keep a regular schedule at the moment, but I'm going to try to hit one a week until I can get the current storyline wrapped up.

I hope you enjoy it.

Cool Video About Returning To The Moon

The race to the moon is on!

The first race to the moon was to step on the surface, the new race is to stay on the surface and build a habitat.

Here is a cool video that talks about what it will be like from National Geographic.

Readers of the comic know I'm pretty well obsessed with the Apollo moon missions, and I'm really excited about our return to the moon.

I'm also a big fan of the National Geographic. We watch lots of their shows including the one in the link above: Naked Science.

Still Alive, Really

Contrary to popular appearances, I am in fact still alive!

I'm sorry I haven't finished up the current storyline. A combination of factors (most of which I won't bore you with) have made it difficult to get more strips done.

The two factors I WILL bore you with are these:

  1. I've written myself into a corner
  2. The strip hasn't really caught on with readers

I've set up the story to require me to do something to a character I really like that I hate to do. If you've read the strip from the beginning, you know this flashback ain't going to end well for the host of the show... Didn't realize I'd come to like him so much...

I'm working on a bunch of things at once right now, but I do hope to come back to Funzietown and finish out this storyline. I'll leave it on the web and if I get enough response, I may pick the strip back up and do more stories.

Finally

Sorry for missing Thursday's comic and being late with today's.

Things are exceedingly hectic right now, and I will probably have a really hard time meeting all the pub dates EXACTLY for a while.

One big thing that is going to slow me down for a bit is a total re-write of the web software. I'm going to re-do the site so that I'll be able to host other comics using Microsoft's new MVC framework. 99% of you won't care or notice the difference, but the geekier amongst you may want to check my other blog for updates on that project.

I just hope everyone will be understanding as I work on what amounts to my third job... :-)
